Our Experienced Endodontist Provides Root Canals
A root canal doesn't have to be painful
When an infection threatens the health of your tooth, Empire Dental Specialty Group can offer specialized treatment, including root canals. Our endodontist works to keep every mouth healthy. When you visit our practice, our endodontist will determine the severity of your dental decay or infection and help you know if a root canal is right for you.
Commonly called a root canal, root canal treatment is a type of endodontic therapy that is often recommended if the tooth pulp and nerves become infected or damaged. This may occur if injury or decay reaches deep into the tooth, past the outer enamel layer. When left untreated, this type of infection and disease may cause the tooth to die and necessitate tooth extraction. To restore the health of the tooth and avoid the need for extraction, our skilled endodontists will remove the infected and injured tissues from within the tooth, clean the tooth, and fill it with a medicated material. We will then cap the tooth with a restoration, such as a dental crown, to return the tooth to its original shape and structure. In most cases, a root canal can be completed in only one or two comfortable visits to our office.
Root canal treatment has a reputation for being a painful treatment. In reality, however, root canal treatment can often be completed with minimal discomfort thanks to advanced techniques, tools, and anesthesia. Our endodontic specialist, along with our entire dental team, works hard to provide you with a pleasant, comfortable experience each time you visit our office. To learn more about root canal treatment, we welcome you to contact us today. We are committed to restoring your smile’s health.
We offer root canal consultations in both our Beavercreek and West Chester offices.

Root Canal FAQs
A root canal is a procedure that removes infected or damaged pulp from the inside of a tooth. The pulp is the soft tissue that contains nerves and blood vessels. Once the pulp is removed, the root canal is cleaned, filled, and sealed to prevent further infection.
Modern endodontic techniques have made root canals much less painful than they were in the past. Your Empire endodontist will use local anesthesia to numb the area around the tooth, making the procedure comfortable.
The length of a root canal procedure can vary depending on the complexity of the case. However, most root canals can be completed in one or two visits.
In most cases, a dental crown is recommended after a root canal to restore the tooth's strength and function.
Yes, root canal therapy from Empire Dental can often save a tooth that would otherwise have to be extracted.
With proper care, a root canal can last for many years. However, it is important to maintain good oral hygiene and see your dentist for regular checkups.
If you do not seek endodontic care for a tooth that is infected or damaged, the infection can spread and cause serious problems, such as an abscess or jawbone infection.
After a root canal, you may experience temporary sensitivity, swelling, or mild pain. These symptoms should subside quickly. Follow your Empire endodontist's instructions carefully, including avoiding hot or cold foods and using a soft-bristled toothbrush. If you experience severe pain or other unusual symptoms, contact our office immediately.
