Dr. Monto grew up in northeastern New Jersey, only a mere 13 miles from his beloved NY Yankees. While attending Fordham University in New York City, Dr. Monto met his future wife, Margaret. He went on to graduate at the top his class, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Dr. Monto chose to attend the University of Pennsylvania, for his dental training. While in dental school, Dr. Monto was awarded a summer fellowship, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, where he found his love of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Working with a team of maxillofacial and oncologic surgeons, it became clear that the ability and honor to have a profound effect on the lives of people was Dr. Monto’s calling in life.
After graduating with honors from dental school, Dr. Monto chose to pursue his career in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at yet another Ivy League institution- Columbia University. It was there that Dr. Monto earned his medical degree, completed an internship in General Surgery and earned a certificate in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. During his time at “Columbia,” Dr. Monto participated in several cleft palate missions in Central America, through Healing the Children.
Dr. Monto feels honored to be joining Empire Dental Specialty Group and is committed to providing the highest quality of care possible to his patients. Dr. Monto is proud to be amongst a group of dental professionals who share his enthusiasm and dedication to the field of dentistry and healthcare.
In his spare time, when he is not watching sports, Dr. Monto just prefers to enjoy life. He spends quality time with his amazing wife and partner, Margaret, whether it be walking the trails of their neighborhood, cycling, gardening, trying out all the amazing restaurants in our area or just sitting on their front porch and listening to music or reading a favorite book. As a couple, they are proud of their two adult children! They visit with their daughter, currently living in Manhattan as she pursues her career in marketing, whenever they get the chance, and on the weekends hit the road to see their sports-fanatic son living in Columbus. Go Bucks! Go Yankees! Go Nets!
